Laura & Paul Wedding at St Mary’s Church & Harburn Barn

Laura and Paul’s wedding day took us from St Mary’s Church in Lanark to a barn reception at Harburn Barn, with a vintage car, a horse and a very lively dancefloor along the way. It was one of those days where everything just flowed, and we loved every minute of it. A Church Wedding at St Mary’s, Lanark We started the day at St Mary’s Church, capturing candids as guests arrived and the excitement built. Churches can sometimes be strict about where photographers are allowed during the ceremony, but the priest at St Mary’s was a lovely guy. He walked us round beforehand and showed us all the spots we could shoot from, which meant we could get some amazing shots of the ceremony without getting in the way. A Vintage Car and a Horse at Harburn Barn Laura and Paul had hired a lovely old car to take them from the church to Harburn Barn, and it made for some great photographs on arrival. Waiting for them at the barn was a rather special guest, their own horse, who joined them for part of the couples shoot. It’s not every day we get to include a horse in wedding photos, and it added something really personal to their gallery. Candids and Couple Portraits in the Gardens Most of our time at Harburn Barn was spent capturing candids, the laughter and conversations that tell the real story of the day. Plenty of guests asked us for family photos throughout the evening too, which we’re always happy to do. Harburn Barn has beautiful grounds, so we took Laura and Paul for a stroll through the gardens for their couple portraits. A quiet walk away from the party always produces some of the most relaxed and natural images of the day, and the gardens gave us a gorgeous backdrop. The Shoe Game and a Packed Dancefloor Before the dancing kicked off, Laura and Paul played the shoe game. Sat back to back, holding one of each other’s shoes, they answered questions by raising a shoe while the guests watched on. It always gets big laughs, and the reactions from the crowd made for brilliant photographs. Then came the first dance, and it wasn’t long before everyone was up on the dancefloor with them. Laura and Paul, thank you for having us along. It was a pleasure from start to finish, congratulations to you both!
