Kymmi and Connor’s Wedding at the Stair Arms Hotel, Pathhead

Kymmi and Connor’s wedding at the Stair Arms Hotel in Pathhead was a brilliant day from start to finish. Morning preparations, a beer race, a surprise dinosaur and a packed dancefloor, this one had a bit of everything. The Stair Arms Hotel is actually where we ourselves got married, so the venue holds a special place in our hearts and we love getting invited back there to shoot other people’s weddings! Getting Ready Photos in Two Places at Once We joined the couple in the morning for their getting ready photos, with Kymmi at the venue and Connor back at home. This is exactly why having two of us shooting every wedding works so well. While one of us was with Kymmi and her bridal party at the Stair Arms, the other was across town with Connor, so neither side of the morning was missed. Those getting ready shots set the tone for the whole gallery, and we love being able to tell both sides of the story. The Ceremony in the New Room at the Stair Arms The new room at the Stair Arms is a lovely space, but it’s quite tight, and with two videographers also working the ceremony there wasn’t much room to move around. Again, having two photographers made all the difference. One of us covered from the front of the room while the other shot from down the aisle, so we still got full coverage of the ceremony without anyone tripping over each other. Group Photos and a Couple Shoot in the Field Next Door After the ceremony we moved out to the large garden for group photos, which gave us plenty of space to work through the family combinations quickly. For the couple shoot we headed to the field next to the venue. It has trees, tall grass and a small forest, and it’s a brilliant spot for relaxed, natural couple portraits. Some of our favourite images of the day came from that walk. A Beer Race, Speeches and a Dinosaur Before the meal we ran a beer race with the groomsmen and groomswoman, which always makes for some epic photos. Then it was on to the speeches, where we focused on candid reactions, all the laughter and emotions from around the room. After the cake cutting and first dance came the surprise of the day, one of the groomsmen appearing in a giant inflatable dinosaur outfit. It got some big laughs and made for some great pictures. The best bit? We found out when we arrived that we’re photographing another wedding later in the year for one of the groomsmen, so we’ll be seeing some familiar faces again soon. Kymmi and Connor, thank you for having us along. Congratulations to you both!
